The Amsterdam at Harborside is a continuing care retirement
community in Port Washington,
NY that was completed in 2010.
ENR's New York Construction
(June 2009) listed this as one of the Region’s
Top 21 Big-Ticket Construction
Starts from Last Year.
The six story, 467,000 square
feet structure houses up to
400 dwelling units and beds in
the independent living, enriched
housing, skilled nursing and
Alzheimer’s facility. An
underground parking garage, with
valet parking, and an indoor
swimming pool are included.
The
gated community is set along
Fairway Drive in Port
Washington, adjacent to a public
golf course, residential
developments and open space
owned by the town. Green
practices are an important part
of the project. Windows, roofing
and exterior wall construction
provide thermal protection
and energy cost savings.
Ventilation and lighting
systems, energy star appliances,
and many other categories of
work conform to requirements for
LEED and other green building
programs.
